During a fire, it's vital that doors, frames and fire-resistant glass are properly sealed to help prevent the spread of flames, smoke and noxious gasses. Our 3M™ Expantrol™ flexible intumescent strip E-FIS is an excellent solution - an intumescent adhesive strip, tested for tensile strength according to ASTM D 412-83, is conformable, flexible and easy to apply. This convenient rolled strip can be easily cut to fit a range of applications without special tools, saving time and money. The re-enterable adherent surface supports material that is designed to expand when exposed to intense heat - effectively sealing the gaps in door frames and glazing applications. This material forms a hard char that continues to resist fire and forms a smoke seal, helping eliminate the spread of smoke and other toxic by-products during and after a fire.
